William Arthur "Art" Moore, 79 of Glouster
passed away Thursday November 30, 2006 at his
residence. He was born February 15, 1927 in
Athens County. He was the son of the late
Arthur Ellis and Nora Lee Quinn Moore. He
retired from Columbia Gas Company. Prior to
that, he was employed by the Glouster Water
and Electric Company. He also worked for the
Army Corps of Engineers where he was the
assistant Lock Operator at the Burr Oak Dam.
He was a member of the Glouster Holy Cross
Catholic Church and the Trimble Masonic Lodge
#557. He was formerly the acting Glouster
Mayor, a former member of the Glouster Board
of Public Affairs, a former Glouster City
Council Member, a former volunteer firefighter
for the city of Glouster, a former member of
the Glouster Eagles #468, and a former member
of the Glouster Moose Lodge #873. He helped
build the World War II war memorial at the
Glouster Park. He also enjoyed woodcarving
and making stained glass.
He is survived by his wife Joan "Jody" Cotter
Moore of Glouster; 3 sons, James (Uleta) Moore
of Glouster, Pete (Mary) Moore of Glouster,
and Stephen (LeeAnna) Moore of Columbus; 1
daughter, Lesa Ann of Athens; 9 grandchildren,
Peter, Chip, Alison, Geoff, Curt, Heath,
Tiffiny, Beth, and Julie; 15 great
grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lucille Wolf of
Glouster, and Louise Buchanan of Cincinnati.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a sister, Genelle Moore; a brother Charles
Edward Moore; a great grandchild, Branson
Moore; 2 brother-in-laws, Charles Buchanan and
James Wolf; and a special sister-in-law,
Virginia Moore.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on
Monday December 4, 2006 at the Holy Cross
Catholic Church, Glouster with Fr. John Mucha
officiating. Interment will be in the Queen
of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the
Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville
on Sunday December 3, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. There will be a wake service held
on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and also a Masonic
Service at 7:30 p.m. Contributions can be
made to the Queen of Heaven Cemetery Fund, 31
Republic Ave., Glouster, Ohio 45732. A
