William R. "Bill" Embrey 82 of Glouster,
passed away on Friday September 11, 2009 at
his residence. Born January 28, 1927 in
Corning, Ohio, he was the son of the late
Russell and Evelyn Plant Embrey. He was an
army veteran who served in Italy during World
War II. He was a machinist and formerly
worked at the Glouster Midget Motor Company.
He was a member of the Glouster Moose #1197
and a lifetime member of the Glouster Eagles
#3321.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Swan
Embrey of Glouster; one son, Tom Embrey of
Glouster; four daughters, Darlene (Buck)
Morgan of Glouster, Arlene (Paul) Morris of
Newport, N.C., Mary (Ron) Russell of Glouster,
and Myrtle (Willie) Embrey of Glouster; five
step children, Kathy Michael of Jackson,
Nathan Gross of Jacksonville, Farley Gross of
Smyrna, TN, Elizabeth Stevens of Stewart, and
Mia D'Augustino of Glouster; 8 grandchildren;
17 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren;
2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenny
Embrey of Crooksville and Jesse Embrey of
Zanesville; and six sisters, Viola Malcomb of
Zanesville, Evelyn Bateman of Zanesville,
Donna Miller of Crooksville, Phyllis Ervin of
Crooksville, Rita Omen of Zanesville, and Sue
Toki of Corning.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by his first wife of 51 years, Mary Lou
Whitlatch Embrey; a grandson, John Coey; and a
sister, Goldie Bolyard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Monday September 14, 2009 at the Bishopville
Church of Christ with Pastor Carolyn Hoskins
officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster where there will
be a military graveside service conducted by
the combined color guard unit. Friends may
call at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-
Bishopville on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. where
there will be and Eagles service held at 7:30
