Tillie M. Sweeney, 91 of The Plains, formerly
of Glouster passed away Thursday January 8,
2009 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The
Plains. Born September 2, 1917 in Redtown,
she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and
Nellie Coey Morrison. She retired from Ohio
University, was a member of the Glouster
Church of Christ, and was involved with the
Glouster Depot.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia
(Terry) Holbert of Glouster and Donna (Gary)
Duncan of Nelsonville; five grandchildren,
Greg (Jody) Holbert of Glouster, Tracy
(Norman) Richards of Canal Winchester, Scott
(Tina) Holbert of Canal Winchester, Mark
(Marsha) Duncan of Bowling Green, and Christy
Gatchel of Nelsonville; eleven great
grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Oiler
of Columbus.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Hugh A. Sweeney who passed
away in 1990; one brother, Frances Morrison;
and five sisters, Elizabeth Wade, Dorothy
Milton, Irene Morrison, Margaret Tippie, and
an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Saturday January 10, 2009 at the Morrison
Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Greg
Holbert officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may
call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8
