Samuel Johnson Jr. 84, of Jacksonville passed
away Wednesday May 16, 2007 at his residence.
Born October 31, 1922 in Pomeroy, he was the
son of the late Samuel F. Sr. and Lida Warner
Johnson. He retired from Tri-County Joint
Vocational School in Nelsonville where he
taught electronics. He was the owner and
operator of Johnson T.V. Sales and Service in
Jacksonville and also worked as a meat cutter
for the Morrison's Grocery Store in
Jacksonville. He was a World War II Army
Aircorps Veteran, a member of the Glouster
United Methodist Church, a former Jacksonville
Village Council Member, a former Chairman of
the Old Settler's Committee, and a member of
the Glouster American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce
E. Lockary Johnson of Jacksonville; 3 sons,
Jeffery P. (Rita) Johnson Sr. of Albuquerque,
NM, Samuel Brent Johnson of Columbus, and
Vinton Craig (Leslie) Johnson of Marion; 1
daughter, Claudia J. Johnson of Albany; 2
grandchildren, Jeffery P. (Ulrike) Johnson Jr.
and Margaret J. Johnson; 1 great grandson,
Elias J. Johnson; 1 brother, Charles F. (Pat)
Johnson of Trimble; and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by 1 brother, Wilbur J. Johnson; 3 sisters,
Katherine Eckard, Edith Dunlap, and Marcy
Embrey; and 2 infant brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Monday May 21, 2007 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Pastor Clyde
Boring officiating. Interment will be in the
Glouster Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
