Robert "Bob" Junior Cooper, 85 of Hollister
passed away Sunday morning, September 20, 2009
at Doctor's Hospital, Columbus. Born October
30, 1923 in Hollister, he was the son of the
late Robert Gibbons and Erminnie Byers Cooper
and the husband of the late Clara Louise
Bennett Cooper to whom he was married for 52
years. He was a member of the Bishopville
Church of Christ, The Albany Masonic Lodge
#723 F&AM, the Thea Chapter 192 Order of the
Eastern Star, and the Ham Radio (BBC Club).
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II,
serving in France, Germany and Austria with
Co. B 51st armored infantry, 4th armored
division. Decorated with the European African
Middle Eastern Campaign medal with three
bronze stars and the World War II victory
medal.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Deslar)
Malone of Athens; a son, Kim (Connie) Cooper
of Groveport; a daughter-in-law, Javon (Ray)
Cooper Venrick of Glouster; six grandchildren,
Darrin (Angie) Malone of Athens, Jerrod (Jodi)
Malone of Albany, Devon Cooper of Glouster,
Robert "Robbie" Cooper of Baumholder, Germany,
Joseph (Catie) Cooper of Glouster, and
Clarissa Cooper of Groveport; six great
grandchildren, Dirk and Allyson Malon of
Athens, Jace and Jocelynn Malone of Albany,
Macinsey Cooper of Glouster, and Haley Fox of
Groveport; several nieces and nephews; and a
special friend, Mike Azbell.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded
in death by a son, Robert Allen Cooper; five
brothers, Gerald, Elmer, Floyd, Oliver, and
James Cooper; and four sisters, Lina Mount,
Erma Kasler, Lorena Westfall, and Betty
Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Thursday September 24, 2009 at the Morrison
Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Gary
Humphrey and John Wright officiating.
Interment will be in the Hollister Cemetery
where there will be a military graveside
service conducted by the combined color guard
unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on
Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where
there will be a Masonic service held at 7:30
