Rex Lantz Obituary

Rex A. Lantz, 85 of Norwalk, formerly of

Ohio. Born November 25, 1922, he was the
youngest son of the late Isaac Eddy and Rhoda
Pearl Gift Lantz. Rex was a 1940 graduate of
J.T. High School. After high school, he
attended Ohio University until he enlisted in
the army. A veteran of World War II, he
served overseas from 1943 to 1945. Following
his tour of duty, he returned to Ohio
University to complete his Bachelor of Science
Degree in Commerce in 1946. He received a
Master of Arts Degree in Secondary Education
from the University of Wyoming in 1953. Prior
to that, he took classes at Sam Houston
Teachers' College in Huntsville, Texas. A
teacher of business classes, he taught at the
Quincy School District from 1946 to 1948, Mt.
Gilead from 1948 to 1954, and Norwalk High
School from 1954 to 1976. During the summers,
he worked at the Ohio Turnpike toll station.
He also worked for Stein Bookkeeping and
Accounting from 1972 until 2000. Although Rex
left Trimble to pursue his teaching career and
other work opportunities, he maintained a
lifelong connection with the area, staying in
touch with family, friends, and classmates and
keeping up to date on the local schools and
their sports programs. He also had many fond
memories of students and friends from the Mt.
Gilead area.

Rex is survived by his nieces and the families

Trimble, Lois Jean (Terry) Dugan of
Jacksonville, Donna (Rich) Messick of
