Peter E. Barnhart, 59 of Glouster passed away
Sunday July 20, 2008 at the James Cancer
Center at Ohio State University. Born January
25, 1949 at Circle Hill, he was the son of the
late Henry V. and Verna M. Hardy Barnhart.
Pete was a 1967 graduate of Chauncey-Dover and
a life time resident of the Athens County
area. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed
spending time with family and friends. Out of
high school, Pete worked for the Noble Shoe
Company for 13 years serving in Jackson,
Athens and Logan, Ohio. He retired from Rocky
Shoes and Boots in 2005 where he was a
warehouse worker for over 21 years.
He is survived by his former wife, Jane
Bateman Barnhart of Chauncey; his daughter,
Anita and Eric Kuhn of Proctorville; a son,
Joseph and Larissa Koska Barnhart of Glouster;
a sister, Shirley Herendeen of Powell; five
grandhildren, Seth and Danielle Kuhn Lewis of
Huntington, WV, Kaleb and Kain Barnhart of
Glouster, and Austin and Kylee Koska of
Glouster; a great grandson, Marcus Lewis of
Huntington, WV; a special friend Mary Richmond
of Redtown and her children, Charlotte
Gaskalla and Jesse Richmond, both of Glouster;
nephews, Dale and Wanda Herendeen of N.C.,
David Blatt of Nelsonville, and James and
Marie Barnhart of Glouster; nieces, Jean and
David Ackerman of Columbus, Debi Blatt of
Chauncey, Vicki and Charles Hixson of Athens;
and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his brothers, Robert and Victor
Barnhart; a sister, Sharron Blatt-Gildow; and
a niece and nephew, Lori and David Barnhart.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Friday July 25, 2008 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. Interment will
be in the Concord Cemetery. Friends may call
at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4
and 6 to 8 p.m. A comforting message may be
