Maxine Hambel, 90 of Glouster passed away
Friday February 16, 2007 at her residence.
She was born June 8, 1916 in Morgan County.
She was the daughter of the late William A.
and Estella M. Shepard Updike. She was the
former owner and operator of the Hambel
Hilltop Market in Morgan County. She later
worked at the Burr Oak Lodge. She was a
member of the East Branch Church of Christ in
Morgan County.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy M. (Joseph
A. Sr.) Dunlap of Glouster; 2 grandchildren,
Joseph A. Jr. (Candy) Dunlap of Trimble and
Joni M. (Doug) Watt of Glouster; and 6 great
grandchildren, Rick and Lacy Nott, Kaylee
Dunlap and Joseph A. Dunlap III, Douglas L.
Watt Jr., and Sarah Watt.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband Frank L. Hambel whom she
married on February 5, 1938; 1 brother, Gerald
Updike; and 1 sister, Deloris Gladdin.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Monday February 19, 2007 at the Morrison
Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.
Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery,
Glouster. Friends may call at the funeral
home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time
of service. Contributions can be made to the
