Mary Brady Obituary

Mary C. Brady, 73 of Glouster passed away Saturday December 7, 2024, at her residence.  Born January 15, 1951, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Donald D. and Freda M. Warning Kennard.  She was an Alexander High School graduate.  She began a career in nursing after graduating from the Holzer School of Nursing with her RN degree.  Her passion for helping others led her to further her education, earning a BSN from Ohio University in 1997, being a recipient of the Betty Anastas Nursing Scholarship.  Mary was formerly a nurse at the Project Hope Head Start in Gallipolis.  She later founded and directed Buckeye Home Health Care.  She retired from Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare where she was the Quality Assurance Director and Site Coordinator for CAITE Research Project.  She was known for her compassionate care and dedication to the Mental Health Community in Athens.

Mary was a member of the New Marshfield United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Stars New Marshfield Chapter where she was the organist and past Worthy Matron.  She enjoyed playing piano.  She was a great Maw Maw to all of her grandchildren with whom she adored spending time.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Brady of Glouster; two daughters, Mandy (Shane Cahrier) Wright of Virginia and Erin (Chad) Eddleblute of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Riley Wright, Monica Bailey, and David Boch; and a nephew, Steve (Dawn) Shingler of New Marshfield.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joe Wright; a sister, Barbara (Donald) Shingler; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, especially her dedicated caregivers Ashley, Tina and Kelsea who constantly went above and beyond to assure Mary’s comfort and their presence whenever Mary needed them.
