Mahlon L. “Babe” Spears, 79 of Glouster passed away Friday June 28, 2024, at the Laurels of Athens. Born August 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Mahlon and Ada Green Spears. He retired from Ohio University. Mahlon was the builder, founder, and member of the House of Prayer in Jesus Name in Glouster. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Betty Limo of Glouster; his extended Limo family; a sister-in-law, Alvira Spears; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald, Clarence “Dick”, and Jerry Spears; sisters, Donna Hoppstetter and Sue Rutter; and Carl and Jack Limo.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 3, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Don Page officiating. Interment will be in the Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. A visitation will take place on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
