Lucy Jane Young

Lucy Jane Henry Young, 79 of Jacksonville
passed away Thursday July 23, 2009 at
Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus with
her family by her side. Born November 10,
1929 in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was the daughter
of the late William and Margaret McKinsey
Henry. Because of her parents' untimely
death, she was raised by her grandmother,
Alice McKinsey. She worked as an OB nurse for
Sheltering Arms Hospital in Athens. She was
on the board of the Community Action for
several years. Lucy and Verna Mulpas were
responsible for getting the grants and
donations used to build the Jacksonville Old
Settlers Senior Center. She always had a soft
spot for the elderly and the very young.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Koch
of Jacksonville who was also her caregiver, a
very special great granddaughter, Ashley
Hunter of the home, Patricia Snyder of Greens
Run, Bill Young of Athens, John (Teresa) Young
of Jacksonville, Ron Young of Logan, and
Theron (Diana) Young of Jacksonville; 15
grandchildren, Greg (Vickie) Nott of Albany,
Michael Hunter of Albany, Ike (Betty) Hunter
of Athens, David (Tye) Cramer of Athens,
Stephen Snyder, Jason (Megan) Snyder, Chris
(Jamie Huddy) Snyder, Timothy (Kari Perkins)
Snyder, all of Greens Run, Angie (Tim) Dennis
of Bremen, Johnny (Andera) Young of Athens,
Tory Young of Seattle, Mindy Young of The
Plains, Theron (Anastasia) Young of Trimble,
Jimmy (Mackenzie) Young of McConnelsville, and
Alicia Young of Athens; great grandchildren,
Bryce, Lucy and Katelyn Hunter, Tiara, Kayla,
Lana, and Zachary Cramer, Cierra and Daimion
Dennis, Jocylyn, John, Tasha, Austin, Alexis,
Erin, Brooklyn, Daimion and Emily Young, Shae
Ferrell, Braylon.

Besides her parents and grandmother, she was
preceded in death by her husband of 63 years,
James Young; a granddaughter, Tara Koch; one
sister, Frances (Avard) Hashman; two brothers,
Morgan and Elroy Henry; and a son-in-law,
Ronald Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Tuesday July 28, 2009 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with John Wright
officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may
call at the funeral home on Monday from 3 to 8
