Kenneth Nelson Sr.

Kenneth R. Nelson Sr., 86 of Logan passed away
Thursday June 18, 2009 at the Logan Health
Care Center. Born March 7, 1923 in Trimble,
he was the son of the late Chester Harold and
Merle Barstow Nelson. He was an Army veteran
of World War II and a 1941 graduate of
Jacksonville High School. He retired from
Owens-Corning Fiberglass.

He is survived by five daughters, Rosemary
(Gene) Campbell, Roberta Palfrey, Marjorie
(Jim) McJunkin, Rhonda (Tim) Nelson, and
Cheryl (Larry) Hankinson; two sons, Kenneth R.
Nelson Jr. (Lori Miller) and Cedric (Joann)
Nelson; two brothers, Keith and Floyd Nelson;
a sister, Ila Smathers; 17 grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; and four great great
grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a daughter, Alice Irene Nelson; and his
wife, Mary Alice Hale Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m .on
Sunday June 21, 2009 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with John Wright
officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood
Cemetery, where military graveside services
will be conducted. Friends may call at the
funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.
