Joseph Earl McKee Sr., 70 of Nelsonville passed away Wednesday April 10, 2024, at the James Cancer Center, Columbus. Born June 21, 1953, in Glouster, he was the son of the late Everett and Christie Mae Cochran McKee. He retired from T.S. Trim in Athens and worked for 18 years at the Junction City Clay Company. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors and was known for being a jack of all trades. He was a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara J. Lowery McKee of Nelsonville; a son, Joseph E. (Candy) McKee Jr. of Glouster; grandchildren, Alysa D. McKee and Vince of Pickerington, Joseph E. McKee III of Nelsonville, Kylynn Forrest and Makayla of Calcutta, Keira Hatfield and Steven of New Lexington, Jared Forrest of Glouster; great grandchildren, Willow Hatfield, Stevie and Emmit Hammond all of Nex Lexington, Hickory Harden of Logan, and Oliver Forrest of Calcutta; honorary children, Trevor, Ronnie, Brian and Tiffany McKee; a brother, Frank (Barb) McKee of Glouster; sisters, Trudie Gardner of Oakfield and Lori Graham of Junction City; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Ricker; brothers, Rodney, Jerry, and Paul McKee; and his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Jon Hanning officiating. Interment will be in the Beechgrove Cemetery, Perry County. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
