Joe Kulakowski Obituary

Joe P. Kulakowski, 80, of Athens, formerly of
Trimble, passed away Tuesday August 24, 2004
unexpectedly at his residence. He was born May
28, 1924 on Taylor Ridge-Benderbasin Rd.,
Glouster. He was the son of the late John
and Susanna Bycofski Kulakowski.

He graduated from J.T. High School, he was a
Navy World War II Veteran where he served on
the LST 817 in the South Pacific. He retired
in 1982 from Peabody Coal Company, New
Lexington where he was employed for over 42
years, he also worked on the Great Lakes on
several freighters. Joe was an avid gardener
and enjoyed canning vegetables and was a proud
American.


He is survived by a daughter Lorie Abdella and
fiance Darren Matheson, 4 step children Larry
T. Day of Michigan, David (Tina) Vickers of
Trimble, Delena Vickers of Michigan, and Roger
(Tammy) Vickers of Trimble, grandchildren Tina,
Tom, Tim and Terri Day, Sasha, Lewis, Phillip,
Tyler, Dillon, and Morgan Estell Vickers,
Michael Abdella, and J.R. and Clay Matheson,
several nieces and nephews and very special
neighbors Jeremy and Shelley Daniels, Jeff and
Pam Scholl, Glen and Elizabeth McDaniel, Larry
and Kay Smith, and Ursula and Willow Belden.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by his first wife, Mary Grigsby Kulakowski and
his second wife Estell Vickers Kulakowski, 2
sisters Helen Bailey and Julia Vessalo and 1
brother Leo Kulakowski.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Monday August 30, 2004 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel Glouster-Bishopville with John Wright
officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster where there will
be a military graveside service conducted by
the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may
call at the Funeral Home on Sunday 4 to 8 p.m.
