Jan E. (Downs) Browning

Jan E. Browning, 57 of Millfield, passed away Friday October 11, 2024, at the Laurels of Walden Park, Columbus.  She was born November 26, 1966, in Athens.  Jan was a Glouster Village Clerk for several years, a member of the Bishopville Church of Christ, an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Trimble Tomcats, but her passion was spending time with her grandchildren.  Jan will be remembered for always having a smile on her face.   

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jeffrey Browning of Millfield; a son, Jeffrey (Kaytie) Browning of Millfield; a daughter, Jaime (Zach Kilbarger) Browning of Ashville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Corie, Jaiden, and Oakleigh; her mother, Billie Jo Downs; a sister, Jennifer Downs of Logan; an uncle, Chuck (Lynn) Downs of New Straitsville; brothers-in-law, Terry Browning and Delbert (Kathy) Browning Jr., both of Sacramento, CA; a sister-in-law, Melissa Browning of Sacramento, CA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Downs; maternal grandparents, Buck and Mary Belle Stephenson; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Flora Guisinger Downs; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sharma and Delbert Browning Sr.; brother-in-law, David Browning; and many aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday October 17, 2024, at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Jon Hanning officiating.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  A visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.  Contributions can be made in Jan’s memory to the Trimble Textbook and Supplies Foundation, c/o Sandy Gyure, PO Box 187 Glouster, Ohio 45732.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family at www.morrisonfc.com.
