James Mingus Obituary

James L. Mingus, 77 of Jacksonville passed
away Tuesday September 25, 2007 at the
O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born
June 16, 1930 in Athens County, he was the son
of the late Wilford H. and Elizabeth Koloze
Mingus. He retired from McBee's in Athens
after 40 years of service. He was an army
veteran and a member of the Green's Run Church
of Christ, the Athens American Legion, and a
life member of The Plains VFW. He formerly
served on the Board of Directors of the Athens
Credit Union and was an avid horseshoe player.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen M. Gwilym
Mingus of Jacksonville; 2 sons, Randy (Sue)
Mingus of Glouster and Rick (Crystal) Mingus
of Newark; 2 daughters, Debi Mingus of
Bradenton, FL and Denise (David) Henry of
Hebron; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Mingus,
Brent (Krizstina) Mingus, D.J. (Vanessa)
Henry, Brandon Mingus, Amber Mingus, Conner
Mingus, and Adam Henry; 1 great grandson,
Chayse Henry; a nephew, Gary Mingus; and
several other nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by 1 brother, Wendell Mingus; and 1 sister,
Rosalee O'Grady.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday
September 29, 2007 at the Bishopville Church
of Christ with Debbie Koons officiating.
Interment will be in the Greenlawn Memory
Gardens, Nelsonville where there will be a
military graveside service conducted by the
combined color guard unit. Friends may call
at the church on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. Arrangements are by the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. A comforting
