James McAlpin Obituary

James "Jim" David McAlpin Sr., 60 of Glouster
formerly of Dayton passed away unexpectedly at
12:13 p.m. November 7, 2008 at Doctor's
Hospital, Nelsonville. Born July 19, 1948 in
Livingston, Tennessee, he was the son of the
late James E. and Delmas McAlpin. Jim was
honorably discharged from the United States
Air Force. Jim was formerly a police officer
in Montgomery County, OH and was currently
employed with W.I.S. International, but was
off work due to an injury.

Jim is survived by his wife of 19 years, whom
he loved dearly, Diana Simerly McAlpin of
Glouster; four daughters, Shanna Levi Star
(Josh Russell) Simerly-McAlpin of Palm Bay,
Florida, Laura McAlpin of Fairmount, Indiana,
Christina McAlpin and Loretta Sue McAlpin,
both of Ohio; five sons, James David (Renee)
McAlpin Jr. of Dayton, Chuck (Delora) McAlpin
of Owingville, Kentucky, Shaun (Kayleigh
Richards) McAlpin of Canton, James "Jimmy"
Michael (Jill) McAlpin of Arcanum, Ohio and
Billy McAlpin of Ohio; a grandson whom he
raised, James Ryan McAlpin of the home; other
grandchildren, Cheriko Campbell, Haylee and
Kaylee Campbell, Austin McAlpin, Landon
McAlpin, Paige, Sage, Dustin, Shayley, and
Dylan, McAlpin, Simon, Katie, Spencer, and
Libby McAlpin, Joey, Cody, and Holly McAlpin,
Dalton, Lucas, and Chloe McAlpin, Terry Lee
Simerly III, Anthony Joy, Zach and Dottie
Hogsett, Sissy Lynn and Austin Hogue, and Alex
and Andy Hogsett; two sisters, Erlene (David)
Ward of Dayton, and Daisy (Luke) Steneker of
New Breaman; two brothers, Albert (Doris) Cook
of Franklin, and William (Mary) McAlpin of
Fayetville, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Thelma
Simerly; brother-in-laws, Shane (Misty Dawn)
Simerly, Ken (Joann) Simerly, Terry (Marcia)
Simerly Sr., and Andy (Mable) Simerly; sister-
in-laws, Ganett (Bob) Cinquepalmi, Geneva
McQuade, and Paula (Mark) Simerly-Thomas; a
special niece, Aerial Simerly; a special
nephew, David "Scottie" Ward; special cousin,
DeeDee "Missy" Kiser; a Godson, "Lil" Kenny
Simerly Jr.; several other nieces, nephews,
and cousins; four special boxers, Angel,
Brandy, Jake, and Kane; special friends, Mark
(Kim) Hogsett, Josh (Annie) Hogue, Jim, Peggy
and Barbie Richards, Frankie Lent, Floyd and
Mary Russell, George Hogsett, Justin and Jenny
Slack, Ron Sikorski, Ben Kasler, Mary Rush,
Matt Dixon, Dave Angle, Monica Humphrey, Carol
Joy, Lester and Rebecca Harden, Jim and Linda
Berry, Daniel and Karen Brooks, Rachel Clark,
Patsy Klein, Robbie Douglas, all of the
Trimble Kroger employees, Dr. Robles, and Pam
and Steven Kane. Jim will be missed and loved
by all.

Jim's family would like to extend a special
thanks to Steve Pallo of SEOEMS and the staff
at Doctor's Hospital, Nelsonville.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Shawn
Allen Simerly-McAlpin; his father-in-law,
William A. Simerly Sr.; three sisters, Betty,
Anna Ruth, and Betty Lou; and two brothers,
James Paul and Bill Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Thursday November 13, 2008 at the Morrison
Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with
Pastor Linda Berry officiating. Interment
will be in the Maplewood Cemetery where there
will be a military service conducted by the
combined color guard unit Friends may call at
the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Contributions can be made to the
Morrison Funeral Chapel, 6525 St. Rt. 78,
