James F. "Jim" Young, 87 of Jacksonville
passed away Tuesday December 11, 2007 at
O'Bleness Memorial Hospital of heart failure
while struggling with cancer. Born December
11, 1920 in Mason, WV., he was the son of the
late James Wilbur and Besse Mae Young. He was
a WWII army veteran. He formerly worked in
the Millfield Coal Mine, for Midget Motors of
Athens, and he retired from Ohio University.
He served two terms on the Jacksonville City
Council.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucy
Henry Young of Jacksonville; 6 children,
Carolyn Koch of Jacksonville, Patty Snyder of
Greens Run; Bill Young of Athens, John
(Teresa) Young of Jacksonville, Ron Young of
Athens, and Theron (Diane) Young of
Jacksonville; 15 grandchildren, Greg (Vickie)
Nott of Albany, Michael Nott formerly Hunter
of Albany, Ike (Betty) Hunter of Athens, David
(Taye) Cramer of Athens, Stephen, Jason, and
Chris Snyder all of Greens Run, Timothy Snyder
of Millfield, Angie (Tim) Dennis of Bremen,
Johnny (Andera) Young of Athens, Tory Young of
Seattle, Mindy Young of The Plains, Theron
(Anastasia) Young of Trimble, Jimmy
(Mackenzie) Young of McConnelsville, and
Alicia Young of Jacksonville; 19 great
grandchildren, Ashley Hunter whom he was
raising, Bryce Hunter, Lucy Hunter, Katelyn
Hunter, Tiara Cramer, Kayla Cramer, Lana
Cramer, Zachary Cramer, Cierra Dennis, Daimion
Dennis, Jocylyn Young, John Young, Tasha
Young, Austin Young, Alexis Young, Erin Young,
Brooklyn Young, Daimion Young and Emily Young.
Jim was a much loved and respected man, whose
strong moral character and kindness touched
all he knew. He will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a granddaughter, Tara Koch; 2 brothers,
Everett and Charlie Young; 2 sisters, Annie
Young and Stelle-Mae Bush; and a son-in-law,
Ron Snyder.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Friday December 14, 2007 at the Bishopville
Church of Christ with Pastor Sam Hudnall
officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster where there will
be a military graveside service conducted by
the combined color guard unit. Friends may
call at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-
Bishopville on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A
