Gwendolyn Spears Obituary

Gwendolyn M. “Gwen” Spears, 62 of Glouster passed away Saturday April 4, 2026 at the Laurels of Athens.  Born February 29, 1964 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Gloria Keaton Spears. 

She formerly worked as a dispatcher for the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.  She was a member of The Church of God at God’s Acres in Newark. Gwen also treasured her visits to the Gathering Place in Athens. She found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting mushrooms and ginseng.

She is survived by her stepmother, Patty Spears; brothers, Brian Losey, Rick Good, Paul and Richie Losey; sisters, Regina and DeeDee; her beloved fur baby, Granny; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Haun; brothers, David Spears and Carl Spears Jr.; a cousin, Terry L. Spears, who predeceased her by one day; paternal grandparents, Sammy and Lucille Spears; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Keaton.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday April 10, 2026 at the Beechgrove Cemetery, Perry County with Brother Decker officiating.  Contributions in memory of Gwen can be made to The Church of God at God’s Acres, 675 N. Cedar Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family at www.morrisonfc.com.
