Gilbert D. Bingman, 74, of Glouster passed away
Thursday October 6, 2005 at the O'Bleness
Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born July 5, 1931
in Glouster, he was the son of the late Ernest
S. and Edna Stewart Bingman. He was a Korean
War Army Veteran. He retired from Columbus and
Southern Electric Company, he was the former
owner and operator of Bingman's Insurance
Agency and Bingman's Flower shop in Glouster.
He was also the owner and operator of other
small businesses which included, Silk
Screening, a Pawn Shop, an alternator and
starter repair shop, and he also cultivated
mushrooms which were sold to the Campbell's
Soup Company. He was a life long member of the
Glouster Church of Christ, the Athens American
Legion post #21, and the Sunday Creek Amateur
Radio Federation. He was formerly a member of
the Glouster Moose Lodge #1197, the Glouster
Eagles #468, and the Glouster Masonic Lodge
#607.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, June
Vaughan Bingman of Glouster; 3 sons, Benjamin
(Glenda) Bingman of Glouster, Eric (Penny)
Bingman of Amesville, and Roger Bingman of
Glouster; 4 daughters, Beverley (Lloyd) Wyatt
of Apple Grove, Merrilea (Rick) Riley of
Glouster, Anna (Pete) Oberhauser of Thornville,
and P.J. (Dan) Guthrie of Glouster; 16
grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1
brother, Kenneth (Joann) Bingman of Newark; and
1 sister-in-law Betty Jane Bingman of
Circleville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by 2 brothers, Orville and Gene Bingman.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on
Sunday October 9, 2005 at the Maplewood
Cemetery, Glouster where there will be a
military graveside service conducted by the
combined color guard unit. There will be a
reception at the Glouster Depot on Sunday
immediately following the service.
