Freda M. Simons, 92 of Glouster passed away
Wednesday July 15, 2009 at Riverside Methodist
Hospital, Columbus. Born May 15, 1917 in
Athens County, she was the daughter of the
late Jasper and Bertha Kasler Shepard. She
retired from Ohio University and was a member
of the Greens Run Christian Church and the
Jacksonville Old Settler's Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, Danny (Gwen
Docie) Simons of Amesville and Greg (Carol)
Simons of Glouster; five grandchildren, Lori
(Alan) Shumaker of Logan, Jeryl Simons of
Columbus, Lisa (Jeff McDonald) Simons of
Glouster, Scott (Becky) Simons of Amesville,
and Melissa (Tom) Campbell of Nelsonville;
five great grandchildren, Miranda (Jeremy
Jones) Willis, Jessi Simons, Bayleigh
Shumaker, Rece Campbell and Madison Campbell;
two sisters, Cora Schenz of Akron and Forest
Ruth Rollins of Zanesville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by three sisters, Amy Chappelear, Edna
Shilling, and Helen Whitehouse; two brothers,
George and Ira Shepard; a daughter-in-law,
Sharon Simons.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on
Monday July 20, 2009 at the Greens Run
Christian Church with Deanna White
officiating. Interment will be in the Dew
Cemetery, Perry County. Friends may call at
the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-
Bishopville on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and
also on Monday one hour prior to the service
at the church. A comforting message may be
