Elsie M. Sawyer Gibson

Elsie M. Sawyer Gibson, 90, of Glouster,
passed away Tuesday August 3, 2004 at her
daughter's residence on Taylor Ridge. She was
born February 19, 1914 in Athens County. She
was the daughter of the late Otto and Flora
Kasler Smart. She worked and lived most of
her life on the D.M. Sawyer Dairy Farm in
Redtown and she loved to reminisce about her
life on the farm. She also retired from Ohio
University after working there for 11 years.
She was a member of the Jacksonville Senior
Citizens.

She is survived by 2 sons Ralph R. (Helen)
Sawyer of Brunswick, OH, and Paul (Lisa) Sawyer
of Grove City, OH, and 1 daughter Beverly
(Thomas) Shifflet of Glouster with whom she
resided, grandchildren Randy, Rusty, and Ryan
Sawyer, Robin Davis, Kurt and Kyle Sawyer, Kim
Reid, Kayla Spellman, Cindy Angle, Becky Oskey,
Jody Dearth, Tammy Gura, and Thomas Shifflet
Jr., 34 great grandchildren, 3 great great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews,
and also special friends Adeline Gura, Frances
Nogrady, Freda Simons, and Helen Bulstrom.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death
by her first husband Ralph E. Sawyer who passed
away in 1966, second husband James Gibson who
passed away in 2000., 2 sisters Ethel Nangle,
Estella Freeman, 5 brothers Sanford, Cecil,
Elmer, John, and Otto Smart, a great grandson
Chad Eric Shifflet, and a great great grandson
Cameron T., a step daughter Dorothy Harper and
a step son Dale Sawyer.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday August 7, 2004 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. Interment will
be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville with
Rev. Don Hadaway officiating. Friends may call
at the funeral home on Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
