Dow W. Davis Jr., 82 of Roseville, formerly of
Glouster passed away Sunday May 24, 2009 at
Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Born November
1, 1926 in Glouster, he was the son of the
late Dow W. Sr. and May Richards Davis. He
retired from Peabody-Simco strip mine in
Coshocton. He formerly worked at the Congo
Mine in Perry County, as a bus driver for
Trimble Local Schools, he was the former Mayor
for the Village of Trimble, he was the former
owner and operator of the Jacksonville Gulf
Station and Dow's Body Shop in Glouster. He
was a member of the Lake Street Church of
Christ in Roseville.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edythe
L. Heaton Davis of Roseville; three sons,
David A. (Madelena) Davis of Glouster, Dennis
A. (Vickie) Davis of Glouster, and Dow W.
Davis III of Thurston; one daughter, Diana L.
(Rolland) Chalfant of Trimble; six
grandchildren, Dennis (Beth) Davis, Darcy
(Frank Fierce) Davis, Kimberly (Chris) White,
Sacha (Jason) Vess, David Davis Jr., and
Rolland Chalfant Jr.; seven great
grandchildren, Savannah Long, Anna Lynn
Gottfried, Sophia, Fiona, and Mitchell Davis,
and Mason and Vincent White; one brother,
Shelby (Teresa) Davis, of LaFollette, TN.; a
special brother-in-law, Harold Heaton; and
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a granddaughter, Olivia Page Davis; two
sisters, Delores Hale and Doris Rankin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday May 28, 2009 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Delbert
Westbrook officiating. Interment will be in
the Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call at
the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Contributions can be made to the
