Darewood Jewell Obituary
Darewood G. "Ding" Jewell, 97, of Glouster
passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005 at
Hickory Creek Rehabilitation Center, The
Plains. He was born February 19, 1908 in
Athens County. He was the son of the late
William and Gertrude Stanley Jewell.
He retired from Ohio University. He was also a
retired coal miner and farmer. He was a member
of the Oakdale Church of Christ, where he was
an elder, a member of the Glouster 3 Star
Senior Citizens, and a member of the United
Mine Workers.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Geneva
Nott Jewell, of Glouster; 2 daughters Mary
Helen (Terry) Harvey of Glouster and Barbara A.
Siemer of Corning; 8 grandchildren, David
(DaNell) Harvey, Michael (Lucinda) Harvey, Mark
Siemer, Lisa (John) Lanning, Gretchen Tomson,
Erica (Mark) Devol, Christina (Lloyd) Harley,
and Albert Siemer; 13 great grandchildren; 2
great great grandchildren; and 2 sisters Ida
Mae Stoneburner and Louise Vaughan both of
Glouster.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Tommy,
Ralph, Frank "Monk", Louis, Jack and William; 3
sisters, Kathryn Champlin, Lena Vaughan, and
Helen Love; and a son in law Edward Siemer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Morrison
Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Roger
Powell officiating. Interment will be in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may call
at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Contributions can be made to the
