Dale Murphy

Dale R. Murphy, 91 of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday August 13, 2025, at his residence.  He was born May 29, 1934, in Perry County.  He was the son of Barney and Marie Wilson Murphy. He was always a hard worker, retiring from Meigs Mine #31 and was a member of the United Mine Workers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, often taking them for rides on his golf cart. He was an avid follower of NASCAR, enjoyed Facebook Marketplace on his iPad, and regularly fed birds and deer.

He is survived by a daughter, Amy (Teresa) Murphy; grandchildren Kari Doughty, Laci (Josh) Woods, Vincent Mattox, Karen (Simone) Castaldi; great grandchildren Alexis (Allen) Russell, Abigail Doughty, Gaige Doughty, Caiden Russell, Chloe Woods, Zach Graves, Amber (Kevin) Adams, Tessa (Korey),  Rylee, and Landon Woods; great-great grandchildren Kyler Russell-Blair and Ezzie Adams; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby Lilly.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy V. Giffin Murphy; granddaughter Heather Thompson; sisters Geraldine Lemon, Imogene Stanford, and Margaret Aichele; and three brothers James, Clifford and Donald Murphy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday August 19, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.
