Cecil Smith Obituary

Charles Cecil Smith, 59 of Glouster, passed away Tuesday March 11, 2025, at O’Bleness in Athens.  He was born August 11, 1965, in Nelsonville.  He retired from Trimble Local School after 10 years as a bus driver.  He also worked in the oil fields and drove a concrete truck for Kilbarger’s. 

He is survived by his son Chad Smith; his daughter Kayla (Mike) Smith, a granddaughter Mattison Call; a sister and best friend Brenda Stobart; several nieces and a nephew; his former wife Cheryl Smith, to whom he was married for 30 years and who was his close friend and caretaker for the last four years; and many special friends including Randy and Tammy Roberts, Ken Wright, Tim and Elizabeth Taylor, Sheila Bycofski, and John Brunton.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lillian Buchman Smith; his brother Art Smith; a special sister Judy (Bill) McKee who raised him; and a brother-in-law John Stobart.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 15, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Pastor Phil Westenbarger officiating. Interment will be in the Glouster Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Contributions may be made in Cecil’s memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.  A message of comfort may be shared with the family by visiting his tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com
