Captolia P. Roberts, 97, of Jacksonville,
passed away Saturday July 29, 2006 at the
Hickory Creek Nursing Home, The Plains. Born
April 25, 1909 in Athens County, she was the
daughter of the late Richard and Corda Boring
Whetstone. She retired from Ohio University.
She was also employed by the Trimble Local
School District. She was the former Treasurer
for the Village of Jacksonville. She was a
member of the Jacksonville Senior Citizens,
the Order of Eastern Stars Thea Chapter #192,
the Glouster-Jacksonville Rebecca Lodge, Top
23 CB Club, and she attended the Jacksonville
Methodist Church.
She is survived by 1 son, Duane (Edna) Roberts
of Nelsonville; 1 granddaughter, Andrea
Roberts of Galloway; and 1 brother, Veryl
Whetstone of Cleveland.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Clayton Roberts; 1 brother
Cliff Whetstone; and 2 sisters, Virgene
Grandstaff, and Bessie Whetstone.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m.
Tuesday August 1, 2006 at the Morrison Funeral
Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with Pastor King
Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the
Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may
call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8
p.m. where there will be an Eastern Star
Service conducted at 7:30 p.m. A comforting
