Betty Loretta Richards, 74 of Glouster passed
away Saturday April 18, 2009 at the Riverside
Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Born September
21, 1934 in Meigs County, she was the daughter
of the late Frank and Rebecca Buchman
McLaughlin. She was a member of the Bethel
Mission Church in Glouster. Betty enjoyed
playing the harmonica.
She is survived by four sons, David Richards
of Glouster, James (Peggy) Richards of
Glouster, Kenneth (Rachel Morrison) Richards
of Glouster, and John (Cathy Wells) Richards
of Zanesville; two daughters, Rebecca (Randle)
Murphy and Alice (Charles) Duncan both of
Glouster; two step daughters, Lois (Don) Gray
of Canton, and Vivian Richards of Florida; 19
grandchildren, Brenda (Bob) Arnold, Tonya
(Josh) Braglin, David (Heather) Richards Jr.,
Jimmy Richards, Barbie Richards, Misty (Shane)
Simerly, Loretta Lynn Richards, Susan (Jeremy)
Limo, Kenneth (Christy Savage) Richards Jr.,
Randy (Tabby Chesser) Murphy Jr., Shaun
Murphy, Alicia Christman, Rebecca (Lester)
Hardin, Jerry Christman, Betty Loretta Fouty,
and Kenda, Melissa, Gary Jr., and Amanda
Richards; several great grandchildren; three
brothers, Jack McLaughlin of Logan, Jerry
McLaughlin of Millfield, and Marion McLaughlin
of Glouster; two sisters, Alice Cartwright and
Linda Lanning, both of Glouster; and special
friends, Margie Webb and Pastor Jim Brown and
Steve Heskett.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Joseph David Richards; a son,
Gary Richards; an infant daughter, Linda
Richards; a grandson, John Richards; a
daughter-in-law, Marlene Richards; two step
sons, Joseph and Ronald Richards; a step
daughter, Barbie Richards; three brothers,
George, Johnny and Kenneth McLaughlin; and one
sister, Jean Decore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Bishopville
Church of Christ with Pastor Jim Brown
officiating. Interment will be in the
Glouster Cemetery. Friends may call at the
Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville
on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions can
