Mary Kathryn Elizabeth Shaner

Mary Kathryn Elizabeth Shaner, 86 of Glouster passed away on Tuesday April 16, 2024, at Highland Oaks Healthcare Center, McConnelsville.  She was born in New Boston, Ohio on November 13, 1937.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Jacobs Woodruff.  She retired from Trimble Local School District as a secretary after 30 years of service. Mary was a member of the Glouster Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Mark Shaner of Glouster; her daughter, Deb Wood; her son, Vic Shaner; four grandchildren, Nicole McCray, Chasity Hall, Justin Carter and Derek Shaner; nine great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister, Maxine (Greg) Cable; and a brother, Robert Woodruff.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy Harvey, Freda Starkey, Betty Dew, Charles Woodruff, Helen Gordon, and James Woodruff.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday April 23, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Jerry Marang officiating.  Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  Visitation will take place on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Trimble Local Textbook and Supplies Foundation, c/o Sandy Gyure, PO Box 187 Glouster, Ohio 45732 or Shriver’s Hospice, PO Box 343, Zanesville, Ohio 43702.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting the tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
