John Campbell Obituary

John E. Campbell, 73 of Millfield passed away Saturday April 20, 2024, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.  Born March 9, 1951, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Charlotte Sullivan Campbell.  He was a 1970 graduate of Nelsonville York/Tri County where he studied auto mechanics.  He worked as a custodian for Nelsonville York Schools and was owner and operator of Campbell’s Garage at his residence.  He later worked as a Boiler Operator at Rockwell International and retired from Ralston Purina.  John was known as a “Mr. Fix It”.  He restored numerous classic cars, his latest being a 1937 Plymouth Coupe.  He enjoyed going to car shows, watching old westerns in his recliner and spending precious time outdoors.  But above all, he most enjoyed his role of Paw Paw to his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gabriella Pincelli Campbell; two daughters, Gabby (Sheila Ross) Campbell of New Marshfield and Ashley (Joey Sweeney) Campbell of Chauncey; grandsons, Mason Sweeney and Leo Ross-Campbell; brothers, Ernie Lee (Charla) Campbell of Logan and Marvin (Lori) Campbell of Nelsonville; sisters, Mary (Eugene) Keiffer, Penny Jones and Gloria (Tim) Powell, all of Nelsonville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and too many good buddies to name.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Charlotte; brothers, Leonard and Rick Campbell; maternal grandparents, Guy and Mary Day; and paternal grandparents, Clell and Naomi Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Friday April 26, 2024, at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating.  Interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery, Albany.  Visitation will take place on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting the tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
