David Joseph Richards Sr.

David Joseph Richards Sr., 72 of Glouster passed away Wednesday March 27, 2024 at his residence.  Born January 2, 1952 in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Joseph David and Betty Loretta McLaughlin Richards.  He was a former member of the Glouster Moose and Glouster Eagles.  David enjoyed fishing, especially at the river, and riding his ATV. 

He is survived by a son, David “Bub” (Heather) Richards Jr. of Glouster; two daughters, Brenda (Bobby) Arnold and Tonya Richards, both of Glouster; grandchildren, Makenzie (Trey) Coen, Amanda (Colton) Arnold, Bobby (Kenlynn) Arnold, Brandon (Malerie) Arnold, Dylan Richards, Chelsea (Cody) Braglin, Cody (Emily) Braglin, Jasmine (Chris) Richards, Kadence Richards, Austin Richards, Jonathon Richards; and a bonus granddaughter, Leah Stynchula; great grandchildren, Jaylynn, Talen, Kai, Noah, River, Gatlin, Aralynn, Blaceton, Madelynn, Jasper, and Carmine; two brothers, Jim  (Peggy) Richards of Glouster and John Richards of White Cottage; two sisters, Becky Murphy and Alice Duncan, both of Glouster; in laws, Esther, Darlene and John (Sis) Williams, Bruce DeGarmore; his father-in-law, John “Duck” Williams; a special buddy, Braxton Lee; special friends, Cecil Smith, James Russell, Randy Waldeck Sr. and Josh Braglin; aunts, Sharon McLaughlin, Kay Carter, Pauline Goddard, and Karen Lee DeGarmore; an uncle, Larry Hook; and several nieces and nephews.  David was also the Godfather of Dusty Waldeck and Randy Waldeck Jr.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Williams Richards; a son, John Richards; a granddaughter, Robynn Arnold; brothers, Gary, Kenny, Joe and Ronnie Richards; sisters, Lois Gray, Vivian Richards; an infant sister, Linda Diane Richards; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy Murphy, Charles Duncan, Margie Webb, Susan DeGarmore, David Brooks, and Linda Richards; and his mother-in-law, Betty Wiliams.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Elijah Brooks officiating.  Interment will be in the Glouster Cemetery.  Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  Contributions can be made to Morrison Funeral Chapel, 6525 State Route 78, Glouster, Ohio 45732 to assist with final expenses.  A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting the tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
